BYD and Bakrie & Brothers Group Cooperate with Local Indonesian Body Builder Group, Tri Sakti, to Initiate Electric Bus Industrialization

Jakarta, Indonesia - Recently, BYD and PT Vektr Mobiliti Indonesia (VKTR), a business entity formed by PT Bakrie & Brothers Group, have officially partnered with the Indonesian bodybuilding company, Tri Sakti. For BYD, it is a significant step to develop the electric vehicle industry ecosystem in Indonesia.

On 8th March, 30 BYD K9 electric buses were delivered and will be operated on the Transjakarta's route, representing Indonesia's first electric public transport bus. The BYD K9 electric bus in Indonesia boasts a battery capacity of 324 kWh with a range of up to 250 km. In addition, the BYD K9 electric bus also features an emergency power supply, GPS telematics, wheelchair access, and safety equipment.

Mr. Anies Baswedan, Governor of DKI Jakarta, tried the BYD K9 electric bus for the first time. He highlighted, "Jakarta, as the capital city of Indonesia, is also fighting against climate change. We have promoted clean public transportation with electric mobility and have introduced Jakarta's first pure electric bus to achieve the goal of zero-emission. We continue to look forward to contributing to sustainable and innovative development.”

The Managing Director of BYD Indonesia & Malaysia, Mr. Eagle Zhao, expressed that, in the future, the industrialization of electric vehicles in Indonesia would develop faster so Indonesia would become a major player in the domestic electric bus business and industry.

This collaboration will be a closer effort to develop the forerunner of the country's electric vehicle ecosystem. In the future, BYD will continue to support Indonesia's implementation of all-electric buses by 2030.
